Privacy Policy

Last Updated: Dec 22, 2025

1. Who we are

tara is run by TARA CONNECT LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16714388).

Our registered address is 43 Moy Green Drive, Horley, RH6 8NU.

When this policy says “we”, “us” or “tara”, it means TARA CONNECT LIMITED. When it says “you”, it means people who visit tara‑connect.com or sign up for early access.

2. Our promise to you

We want tara to feel like a safe, human space, not another data‑grab.

For phase 1, we collect only the information we need to create your account, understand who is joining, and stay in touch with you about the product.

We do not use cookies or analytics tools in phase 1.

3. What information we collect

When you sign up for early access or create an account, we collect:

  • Google sign‑in details: your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. We do not access any other Google data.
  • Profile information you share with us: country, type of work, goals, LinkedIn URL, a short introduction, who you would like to meet and your interests.
  • Service and security information: basic technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, and request logs, which we use to keep the service running reliably and to prevent abuse.
  • Email information: whether our emails were delivered and opened, and your unsubscribe status, as reported by our email provider, so that we can respect your communication choices.

We do not collect research interview data inside the product. Any research notes we keep are stored separately and are either anonymous or de‑identified.

4. How we use your information

During phase 1, we use your information to:

  • create and manage your tara account;
  • understand who is joining the community and what people are looking for, so we can design the first wave of connections;
  • send you important service messages (for example, information about your account, outages or major changes);
  • send product updates and early‑access news if you choose to receive them;
  • contact you for feedback or user research if you have opted in.

You can opt out of marketing or research emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.

We are not yet scheduling meetings on your calendar or introducing people directly in phase 1, so we will not access your calendar. When we move to that phase, we will update this policy and ask you to review the changes.

5. Our legal reasons for using your data

We rely on a few different legal bases when we use your information:

  • Providing the service: we need some information to create and manage your account and communicate with you about tara.
  • Our legitimate interests: we use minimal technical data (like IP address and request logs) to maintain the service, protect against abuse and understand basic usage at a high level.
  • Your consent: we use your email address for marketing updates or research invitations only when you have actively opted in, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your data. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run tara.

In phase 1, these are:

  • AWS – to host our infrastructure and store data securely.
  • Strapi – as our content management system and admin interface for viewing your profile information.
  • SendGrid (or equivalent email provider) – to send emails and manage unsubscribes.
  • Hosting/CDN providers (for example, Google Cloud) – to deliver the tara website quickly and securely.

These providers act on our instructions and are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers are based in, or process data in, countries outside the UK and European Economic Area, including the United States.

Where that happens, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections required by law.

8. How we keep your data safe

We use a range of technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe, including:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your browser and our services;
  • restricted access to production systems, limited to people who need it;
  • secure server and database configuration;
  • monitoring and logging of admin activity.

No online service can be completely secure, but protecting your information is a core part of how tara is designed.

9. How long we keep your information

We only keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes described above.
In practice, that means:

  • Account and profile information: kept while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymise this data, except for any information we need to keep for legal, security or record‑keeping reasons.
  • Technical logs: kept for a short period to secure and operate the service, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Email unsubscribe records: kept so that we do not email you again by mistake.

If you would like more detail on specific retention periods, you can contact us using the details below.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to limit how we use your information in certain situations;
  • object to some types of use, such as direct marketing.

In phase 1, if you want to exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the email below or through the contact form on the site. We may need to confirm your identity before we can act on your request.

To request account deletion, please tell us the email address you used to sign up, and we will handle the deletion manually.

11. Children

tara is for adults who are 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

As tara evolves and we move into later phases (for example, when we start introducing members to each other or add analytics), this policy will change.

When the changes are important, we will let you know by email or a notice on the site and, where needed, ask you to review and accept the updated policy.
